I grew up listening to Steve Earle and then about 10 years ago I saw an online article about this guy named Justin Townes Earle. I wondered if they were related. Spent about five minutes and found out that Justin was the son of Steve Earle. I knew I had to give him a listen. I was hooked every since. For a decade I've been listening to Justin, alot. Watching youtube videos. The whole nine yards. After hearing about his death last night I went to sleep with headphones one, playing some of my favorite tracks from him. This song, is at the top of that list {I assure you, its a very long list}. We all grieve differently, mostly I do mine through music. I wanted to sit down and write him an album, a thank you card, anything, but I couldn't, I didn't have it in me. So I decided to put my own spin on a song of his. It's not as good as his, no one will ever touch his work {cover or otherwise} but it was me going through the motions with grief and doing it the only way I know how. -K.M
